About the Trek

DETAILED ITINERARY 9D/8N

DAY 1 - DEHRADUN TO JAKHOL

The first day starts with a small reception in Dehradun after which we start our journey to Jakhol. The route to Jakhol is very scenic. You pass through Mussoorie, Kempty Falls, Nainbagh, Naitwar and many more places passing through the beautiful Shivalik. From Purola the Lesser Himalayan terrain open ups, the route entirely changes from here. The pine forests become thick, Rhododendrons become a common sight, one can also find oak and deodar forests in between. The smell of the forests just mesmerizes you and you can fell all the motion sickness gone away.

In evening you reach Jakhol, which is a small hamlet in the Uttarkashi district, which is nestled in between a huge and dense pine and deodar forest. The traditional wooden carved house are a common sight in the village.

You retire for the night in the village after having dinner.

DAY 2 – JAKHOL TO RAHLA VILLAGE

On your journey to the Himalayas, Day 2 is the perfect opportunity to acclimatize yourself to the altitude. We will begin with a short ride from Jakhol to Regcha village and then proceed with an acclimatization walk to Rahla Village. The walk is not too strenuous and involves only a modest altitude gain of 300 meters. As you walk, you will be treated to the sight of dense forests of barthatra and dhaldhar on your left. The route is relatively straight, which makes it an ideal acclimatization walk. Along the way, you will pass through Haripur and Kasla villages, where you can immerse yourself in the local culture. You can also take a break in one of the local chaanis and enjoy the scenic beauty of apple orchards and green fields planted with wheat and local kidney beans.

DAY 3 – RAHLA VILLAGE TO SURAL

After acclimatizing in Rahla Village, it's time to begin your real trek. Today's trek can be classified as moderate, with a mix of different terrains. You will journey through the picturesque meadow, which is surrounded by hills on all sides and enveloped in a dense coniferous forest that boasts of pine, oak, rhododendron, and deodar trees. The fragrance from the forest will keep you spellbound throughout the day. Your campsite for the night will be the point where the meadow ends, offering a serene and peaceful setting to spend the night under the stars.

DAY 4 – SURAL TO DEVBASA

At Sural, you'll wake up to stunning views of the surrounding mountains. On day 4, your trek starts with a climb through the same forest that you witnessed on your way to the campsite. Once you have ascended the climb, you will traverse along mountain ridges that provide breathtaking views of the valleys and mountains in the vicinity. Along the ridge, you will get glimpses of several peaks such as Swargarohini, Ranglan, and more. As you continue on this trail, you will eventually reach Devbasa, a rocky patch where two mountains meet. This is where you'll set up your tents for the night, in the midst of the gorgeous mountain landscape

DAY 5 – DEVBASA TO KANDI PASS CAMP

We wake up a little early this morning. After having our breakfast we start our trek again. The trail for the day is steep and rocky hence it takes a little more time. It takes around 4 hours to reach the campsite. First we climb upto the Kandi pass, this marks our entry to Dodra Kunwar Valley. Here the landscapes open up to magnificent views of the surroundings. After the climb up to the pass we descend a little down to reach our campsite.

DAY 6 – KANDI PASS  TO BARAADSAR TO DEVBASA

On this day, we descend downhill until we reach a small stream of water coming from the lake, following the stream takes leads us to Baraadsar. As we climb up the rocky areas, suddenly, the whole lake comes into view in a breathtaking moment that will leave you mesmerized. This moment is truly magical, and it washes away all the stress and tiredness of the trek, leaving you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. The lake becomes the center of your attention, and you can rest and spend time in the vicinity, offering prayers to the wishing lake "Baraadsar." The crystal clear and calm water of the lake reflects the beauty of the surrounding areas, making it a sight to behold. After spending some time here, we begin our descent back to Devbasa

Day 7 – DEVBASA TO REGCHA

On this day, we embark on our return journey to Regcha, and the experience is entirely different as you get to view the valleys from a new perspective. The same mountains and valleys that you saw while ascending now seem even more mesmerizing, as if you're seeing them for the very first time. At the end of the day, we reach Regcha, where you can finally rest and relax in the cozy and comfortable homestays after spending several days in camps.

DAY 8 – REGCHA TO DEHRADUN.

After enjoying breakfast in Regcha, we commence our return journey to Dehradun. As you travel in the cab, you might find yourself questioning why this incredible trip must come to an end. That is the kind of magic that the mountains possess, and this journey will undoubtedly provide you with an unforgettable experience, leaving you longing to return as soon as possible. In the evening, we arrive in Dehradun, and it's time to bid farewell to the magnificent Himalayas
