The Tungnath temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is the highest among the Panch Kedars, can be found at an altitude of 3680 m in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. The temple is nestled in the midst of the stunning Himalayan mountain range and is a popular destination for trekkers and pilgrims alike.

The trek to Tungnath temple starts from the charming village of Chopta, which is situated about 164 km from Rishikesh. The 3.5 km uphill trek from the Chopta road to the temple is moderately challenging and takes around 2-3 hours to complete. The trail winds its way through a picturesque landscape of lush meadows and dense forests of Rhododendron trees, which are known for their vibrant blooms in the spring season. As trekkers make their way up the trail, they will be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

The Tungnath temple is located within the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, which is a protected area that is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. The sanctuary is known for its population of rare and endangered species such as the musk deer, Himalayan barking deer, Yellow Throated Marten, Himalayan Tahr, and the Pika, which is a small, rabbit-like creature that is found in the high altitudes of the Himalayas. Bird watchers will also be delighted to spot a variety of avian species in the sanctuary, including the state bird of Uttarakhand, the Himalayan Monal, and the Lammergeier, which is also known as the Bearded vulture.

After visiting the Tungnath temple, trekkers can continue on a 2 km trek to Chandrashila, which is located at an altitude of 4000 m. The trek to Chandrashila is a bit more challenging, but the stunning views from the top make it well worth the effort. From the Chandrashila peak, trekkers can enjoy a panoramic view of the majestic Himalayan mountain range, including the towering peaks of Nanda Devi, Trisul Kedar, Bandaroonch, and Chaukhamba, which are all shrouded in snow.

In summary, the trek to Tungnath temple and Chandrashila peak is a breathtaking journey through the stunning Himalayan landscape. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy the diverse flora and fauna of the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary and soak in the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

After completing the Tungnath and Chandrashila trek, the next destination on our journey is the charming village of Sari. From there, we embark on a trek to the picturesque Deoria Tal, which is surrounded by snow-covered mountains and lush green forests teeming with a rich variety of flora and fauna.

One of the most striking features of Deoria Tal is the panoramic views it offers of the surrounding mountains, which are truly breathtaking and hard to come by in many other places. From this vantage point, you can see the majestic peaks of Chaukhamba, Bandarpoonch, Kedar range, Kala Nag, and Neel Kantha in all their glory. According to legend, the lake was built by Bheema and many Devas are said to have bathed in its tranquil waters, adding to its spiritual significance.

As the trek continues, the scenery becomes even more captivating, with the Himalayan mountain range towering over us and the beautiful trees and flowers of the surrounding forest enveloping us in their midst. The sound of the waterfalls in the distance adds to the tranquil ambiance of the area. One of the highlights of the trek is the opportunity to spot a variety of exotic bird species, including the Himalayan Monal, which is the state bird of Uttarakhand.

Overall, the Deoria Tal trek is a unique and unforgettable experience that offers a rare glimpse into the stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of the Himalayan region.
